Physical Security

nexmedia's data centre locations are carefully chosen to provide a high level of both physical access security and system redundancy to ensure that your data remains secure and accessible at all times. The nexsites Platform cluster nodes are located in several geographically distributed data centres around the world to ensure that no single failure in public or private infrastructure can interrupt access to your systems.

Each data centre location must meet a set of physical security requirements limiting access to the premises itself and further limiting access to nexmedia owned equipment. These requirements often exceed the operational procedures of the data centre facility, and nexmedia frequently monitors each contracted location for compliance.

Some of the specific requirements nexmedia places on its data centre locations are:

  • Physical access to the facility must be restricted to authorized personnel with electronic physical access controls with monitoring and permanent access logging
  • 24x7 building security with video monitoring of all access portals
  • Fully closed wiring conduits
  • All nexmedia owned equipment must be housed in dedicated cabinets that are closed on all sides
  • Cabinets housing nexmedia equipment must be affixed with serialized tamper-proof seals, with the serial number of each current seal recorded at all times
  • New tamper-proof seals are kept in the possession of nexmedia staff members only, not at the data centre location
  • A nexmedia operations staff member must be present at any time that cabinets housing nexmedia equipment are opened, and on-hand to monitor all work performed and to re-seal the cabinet upon completion
These security requirements are formalized in nexmedia's contracts with each data centre provider, and are reviewed in full on the occasion of the hosting provider materially changing the infrastructure or physically re-locating nexmedia equipment.
